NZ vs PAK: Kyle Jamieson Fined For Throwing a Ball ‘Inappropriately’ Towards Faheem Ashraf

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has been found guilty of Level 1 violation of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Code of Conduct during the third day of the first Test match against Pakistan at Mount Maunganui. He has been fined 25% of his match fees.

Jamieson threw the ball towards Pakistan batsman Faheem Ashraf “in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner”, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old had breached Article 2.9 of its code of conduct on Monday, the third day of the first test. Jamieson had admitted the offence and accepted the sanction that was proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, it added.”

The incident occurred … on Monday, when Jamieson, after fielding the ball on his follow-through, threw it in the direction of Faheem Ashraf at high speed when the batsman was away from the stumps but within the popping crease and not intending to take a run,” the ICC said.

Along with fine, a demerit point has been added to Jamieson’s disciplinary record for this. This is his first offence in his 24-month period. Here it is worth noting that the players are reprimanded by the officials and their 50% match fees are deducted for Level 1 violation.

Along with this, one or two demerit points are added to their records. When a player gets four or more demerit points within two years, he can be suspended or even banned. Jamieson confesses his crime and fine. Therefore, there was no need for a formal hearing in the case.

All-rounder Kyle Jamieson made his international debut earlier this year against the Indian cricket team. He featured in four Tests, two ODIs, and four T20Is for the black caps in which he took 26 international wickets and accumulated 189 runs.

Jamieson’s presence has provided much-needed balance to the Kiwis in all formats of the game. He has already broken into the Top 35 of the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers.
