Netherlands Secures 6-Wicket Victory Against Nepal in T20 World Cup 2024
Netherlands beat Nepal by 6 wickets to kick off their T20 World Cup campaign.
The Netherlands kickstarted their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in style, securing a comfortable six-wicket victory over Nepal in their Group D encounter at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Tuesday.
Nepal, after electing to bat first, were bundled out for a modest 106 runs. The Dutch bowling attack, led by Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek, shared six wickets apiece, restricting Nepal’s batters from building any significant partnerships. Pringle finished with impressive figures of 3/20, while van Beek chipped in with a crucial 3/18 spell.
Chasing a modest target, the Netherlands adopted a cautious approach. Openers Vikram Singh and Max O’Dowd stitched together a crucial partnership to steady the chase after the early dismissal of Michael Levitt.
While Vikram Singh departed for 22 runs, O’Dowd anchored the innings with a well-composed unbeaten knock of 54 runs.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Dutch never allowed Nepal to stage a comeback. O’Dowd’s fifty, along with cameos from Sybrand Engelbrecht and Scott Edwards, ensured a comfortable victory for the Netherlands with eight balls to spare.
