MS Dhoni Finally Opens Up About His Retirement from CSK
The CSK legend breaks silence on his future with the franchise, offering fans a rare glimpse into his retirement plans
MS Dhoni has confirmed that he will stay connected with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the next 15–20 years, though not necessarily as a player. Speaking recently, the CSK legend said he would continue to wear the yellow jersey, whether on the field or behind the scenes.
“I will be with the CSK team for another 15-20 years,” Dhoni said. “That doesn’t mean I will be playing for that long. But whether I’m on the field or off it, I will remain associated with CSK in the yellow jersey for the next 15-20 years.”
Dhoni did not confirm if he would play in the next IPL season, keeping fans guessing about his playing future. However, he made it clear that Ruturaj Gaikwad will return as captain after missing the latter part of the last season due to injury.
“Rutu will return as captain. He was injured, but now he’s fine. His comeback will bring balance to the team,” Dhoni added.
CSK had a mixed IPL 2025 campaign, with inconsistency in the batting department being one of the major issues. Dhoni acknowledged those struggles and pointed to the upcoming mini-auction in December as a chance to address key gaps in the squad.
