Mohammed Shami Confirms His Participation in Champions Trophy 2025
Mohammed Shami has dropped a massive hint on his comeback.

Mohammed Shami has sparked excitement among fans with a recent training video, hinting at his return to the Indian team ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. The Bengal pacer, who has been out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup final, shared a video of himself bowling in the nets on Tuesday.
In the clip, Shami can be seen bowling with full intensity, accompanied by the title track “Fateh Kar Fateh.” His caption, “Precision, Pace, and Passion, All Set to Take on the World,” has raised hopes of his comeback, especially with India facing concerns over Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness.
Mohammed Shami’s Journey Back to Form
Shami last played for India during the World Cup final in Ahmedabad before undergoing ankle surgery. After months of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), he returned to domestic cricket in November 2024.
The 34-year-old performed well in the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20, and Vijay Hazare Trophy, showing his ability across formats. Despite his impressive performances, Shami was not included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the BCCI citing concerns over his readiness for five-day matches.
Possible Return Against England
If selected, Shami could feature in India’s limited-overs series against England later this month. The series includes five T20Is and three ODIs, serving as preparation for the Champions Trophy in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play in the England series due to a back spasm he suffered during the fifth Test in Sydney. While the BCCI has not released an official update on Bumrah’s condition, fans are optimistic about Shami stepping in to bolster India’s pace attack.
As the Champions Trophy approaches, Shami’s return could be a timely boost for India, especially with his experience and form in white-ball cricket.
