Chasing a target of 190, Owen struck a composed half-century and picked up a wicket, helping Australia take a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

Owen shared a crucial 80-run partnership off just 40 balls for the fifth wicket with Cameron Green, who blazed his way to 51 off 26 deliveries. Australia completed the chase with seven balls to spare.

Earlier, West Indies posted a competitive 189/8 after a solid start, but their momentum was derailed in the final overs, where they lost four wickets for just five runs in the last nine balls.

Owen became just the third Australian to score a T20I half-century on debut, joining the elite company of David Warner and Ricky Ponting.
