A major early move was the confirmed trade involving Shardul Thakur, who has been moved to Mumbai Indians in exchange for Arjun Tendulkar. The deal signals LSG’s clear intent to restructure their bowling lineup and invest in younger options.
LSG Likely Released Players for IPL 2026 and Reasons
LSG are expected to part ways with Mayank Yadav, whose recurring injuries limited him to only two matches in 2025. The management may opt for more reliable pace options at the auction.
Veteran finisher David Miller is also likely to be released after an inconsistent season. His limited impact in crunch moments made his retention uncertain.
Another big name on the likely release list is Ravi Bishnoi, who had a quieter 2025 campaign. Despite his strong reputation, reports suggest LSG may look for fresh spin options.
Akash Deep, bought for ₹8 crore, struggled to deliver consistent spells, making his release a strong possibility. West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph also found it tough to adjust to Indian pitches and may be allowed to leave.
