Karun Comes Home, Koushik Moves On

As per a report by Cricbuzz, Karun Nair cited personal reasons behind his decision to return. He was earlier dropped by Karnataka in 2022, after which he moved to Vidarbha.

But now, with the state team welcoming him back, he will once again be seen in Karnataka colours this season.

On the other hand, Vasuki Koushik requested a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and is now confirmed to play for Goa. He is likely to partner with Arjun Tendulkar in the Goa pace unit.

“We have signed Koushik. So far, that is the only confirmed transfer. We are exploring a few other options, but no names have been finalised yet,” Goa Cricket Association secretary Shambha Desai confirmed.

Goa had also tried to rope in India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal earlier this year. Though Jaiswal was granted an NOC from Mumbai, he later changed his decision and chose to stay with his home state.

Karun Nair has been in strong form lately. He scored 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 779 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Vidarbha.

His recent run helped him earn a place in India’s Test squad in England, marking a return to the national setup after more than seven years.

As for Koushik, the 32-year-old was one of Karnataka’s main pacers in recent years. He has picked 93 wickets in first-class, 82 in List A, and 48 in T20 cricket. His addition will boost Goa’s bowling strength.
