Kane Williamson Becomes Third New Zealand Batter to Reach 1000 World Cup Runs

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson achieved the milestone of 1000 runs in ODI World Cups during his team’s league-stage encounter against Pakistan at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, November 4.

Achieving this feat in his 25th World Cup innings, he now stands alongside former Kiwi skippers Stephen Fleming and Ross Taylor as the third player to do so.

Williamson, who is participating in just his second game of the ongoing tournament, managed an unbeaten 78 against Bangladesh before being forced to retire due to a thumb injury.

It was later diagnosed as a hairline fracture, leading to his exclusion from New Zealand‘s upcoming matches.

This year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in Bengaluru marks Kane Williamson’s fourth appearance in the showpiece event. He started off his World Cup journey back in 2011 and has continued through the editions in 2015, 2019, and now, 2023.
