“IPL mein bhi umpiring karni hai” – Shahid Afridi Accuses Umpire of Cheating in IND vs PAK Clash
Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf mocked umpires who officiated during India vs Pakistan match.
Former Pakistan cricketers Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf once again took a dig at India, this time targeting the umpires after Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash in Dubai.
Zaman was adjudged out in the third over after edging Hardik Pandya to Sanju Samson behind the stumps. While the on-field umpire raised his finger, the batter stood his ground, forcing a referral to third umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge.
After multiple replays, the official confirmed that Samson’s fingers were beneath the ball, ruling Zaman out. The Pakistan opener, who had already struck three boundaries in his 15 off 9, looked visibly upset walking back.
Afridi, speaking on Samaa TV, mocked the decision with a sarcastic jibe. “Usse IPL mein bhi toh umpiring karni hai (He has to do umpiring in IPL as well),” he said, hinting at favoritism towards India.
Yousuf, also on the panel, backed the claim, stating the umpire rushed into the call. “The benefit of the doubt should have gone to the batter,” Afridi added, echoing Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis’ views on live commentary.
Yousuf went a step further, subtly suggesting bias. “Fakhar was the main batter there. He already hit a few boundaries, including against world-class bowler Jasprit Bumrah. So they had to give him out,” he claimed.
However, a fresh replay angle circulating on social media later showed Samson’s fingers clearly under the ball, validating the third umpire’s decision.
India eventually chased down 172 with seven balls left, sealing a six-wicket win over Pakistan. The Men in Green now face Sri Lanka in a must-win Super Four clash in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
