IPL 2025: Why Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks Are Not Playing Today’s Eliminator Match MI vs GT?
Ryan Rickelton missed MI’s Eliminator match against GT as he returned to South Africa for WTC preparation.
The IPL 2025 eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans is underway at a crucial stage of the tournament. The loser of this game will be knocked out, while the winner will move ahead to face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already reached the final.
At the toss, Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya won and chose to bat first. However, one of the biggest questions among fans was the absence of in-form South African batter Ryan Rickelton from the playing XI.
Why Ryan Rickelton Is Missing
Ryan Rickelton, who has been consistent with the bat for MI this season, is not part of today’s match because he has returned to South Africa. He is part of the South African squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) assignment and left the IPL to prepare for that series.
As a result, Jonny Bairstow has replaced him in the playing XI and will also take up the wicketkeeping duties for Mumbai Indians.
Will Jacks Also Missing
Another overseas player who is not playing today is Will Jacks. The England all-rounder has been struggling with form throughout the season and may also have returned to England for national duty. Mumbai Indians decided to go with Mitchell Santner instead to balance the side.
