IPL 2025: Blow to Mumbai Indians’ Playoff Hopes! Star Spinner Out Injured

Vignesh Puthur has ruled out of the remaining IPL 2025.

Mumbai Indians have suffered a big setback in their IPL 2025 campaign. Their star spinner, Vignesh Puthur, has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to bone stress in both his shins.

This injury comes at a crucial time, with MI still having four league matches left as they fight for a place in the playoffs and aim for their sixth IPL title.

Puthur was in good form this season, playing five matches and picking up six wickets. He even took three wickets against their rivals Chennai Super Kings. His bowling average of 18.16 is the second-best for Mumbai this season, just behind Will Jacks. His strike rate of 12 is also among the best in the team.

To replace him, Mumbai Indians have brought in Punjab leg-spinner Raghu Sharma, who was part of their support staff. Raghu has done well in domestic cricket, taking 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches and 14 wickets in 9 List-A games. MI signed him at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Mumbai Indians will now face Rajasthan Royals today in their next match. They are currently in third place with 12 points and are on a five-match winning streak. A win today can take them to the top of the table.

However, they face a tough challenge as they have not won a match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur since 2012. With Puthur ruled out, MI will hope that Raghu Sharma can step up and make an impact in these remaining matches.
