IPL 2024: Lasith Malinga Appointed As Bowling Coach of Mumbai Indians

Lasith Malinga taken up the role of bowling coach of Mumbai Indians

Lasith Malinga, the legendary Sri Lankan fast bowler, has taken up the role of bowling coach for the five-time Indian Premier League champions, the Mumbai Indians, filling the shoes of Shane Bond.

Mumbai Indians will be Malinga’s third team for the MI franchise as he is already the bowling coach of MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC) T20 and MI Cape Town in SA20.

Here’s what Lasith Malinga sain on his assignment with Mumbai Indians:

“I am looking forward to working closely with Mark, Polly, Rohit and the rest of the team, especially the bowling unit, whose approach I loved last season, and the young MI talent that has the potential to excel, backed by the passionate MI Paltan.”

Following his retirement in 2021, Malinga continued to work with the Rajasthan Royals up until this year. On the other hand, Shane Bond’s association with the Mumbai Indians spans back to 2015, and he has been instrumental in their success, contributing to the team’s four IPL titles as their bowling coach.
