Lucknow Super Giants star pacer Mark Wood is set to miss the final stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 to attend the birth of his child next month, ESPNCricinfo stated.
The right-arm pacer has played four games for the Super Giants, scalping 11 wickets at an economy rate of 8.12. However, he missed the last couple of games due to illness.
“Wood and his wife Sarah are expecting their second child towards the end of May, and Wood will fly home at some point in the coming weeks in order to be present at the birth.”
The report further added that the ECB board has given the BCCI an assurance that their players will remain in the league until the end, with the possible exception of Chennai Super Kings’ star player Ben Stokes, in addition to Mark Wood.
