SRH vs DC: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 88 runs in the 47th match of the 13th season of IPL. This is Hyderabad’s biggest win against Delhi in the IPL. Earlier, Hyderabad beat Delhi by 15 runs in the 11th match of this season in Abu Dhabi. With this win, Hyderabad’s hopes of reaching the play-offs remain intact.

Batting first after losing the toss in the match played in Dubai, Hyderabad gave Delhi a target of 220 runs. In reply, Delhi was restricted to 131 runs in 19 overs. Delhi has lost 3 consecutive matches for the first time in the season. Rishabh Pant scored 36 and Ajinkya Rahane scored 26 runs.

At the same time, Rashid Khan of Hyderabad took 3 wickets for 7 runs in 4 overs. This is the best performance of his career. Earlier, he took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 2017 and 2018. Apart from Rashid, Sandeep Sharma and T Natarajan got 2-2, Shahbaz Nadeem, Jason Holder and Vijay Shankar got 1-1 wickets.

Early Dismissal of Shikhar Dhawan & Marcus Stoinis

Opener Shikhar Dhawan flopped in the second consecutive match. Sandeep Sharma dismissed him on the third ball of the innings. He could not even score a single run and out for a golden duck. After this, Marcus Stoinis also got out for 5 runs by Shahbaz Nadeem.

Iyer-Hetmyer Fails to Impress

Captain Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer could not do anything special. Hetmyer was dismissed by Rashid Khan. He could only score 16 runs. In the same over, Rashid showed Ajinkya Rahane (26) the path back to the pavilion. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer scored 7 runs and caught by Kane Williamson at Vijay Shankar’s ball.

Warner-Saha Played an Expeditious Innings

David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha’s innings helps Hyderabad to score 219 for 2 wickets in 20 overs. This is the biggest score of the season in Dubai. Earlier in the 6th match of the season here, Kings XI Punjab gave the target of 207 runs to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Opener Wriddhiman Saha made his 7th IPL Fifty and captain David Warner made 47th Fifty of his IPL career. Saha scored 87 off 45 deliveries and Warner scored 66 off 34 balls. Apart from this, Manish Pandey 44 and Kane Williamson were 11 not out. Delhi’s Enrich Nortje and Ravichandran Ashwin got one wicket each.

Hyderabad Scored 77 Runs in Power-Play

Warner and Saha giving their team a quick start. Both scored 77 runs in 6 overs of the power-play. There was also a 107-run opening partnership between them. This partnership was broken by Ravichandran Ashwin by dismissing Warner.

Warner Became The Highest Run-Scorer

Warner became the highest run-scorer during the power-play this season. Warner scored 54 runs in the power-play. Earlier this record was named after Prithvi Shaw of Delhi Capitals. He had scored 42 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Rabada Didn’t Get Any Wicket

Purple cap holder Kagiso Rabada conceded 54 runs in 4 overs and he did not get any wicket either. This is the first time in 26 T20 matches when Rabada did not get a single wicket in the match.


Man of The Match

Wriddhiman Saha is adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning knock of 87 off 45 deliveries with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 193.33.

Changes in Playing 11

Three changes were made in the Hyderabad team. Wicketkeeper batsmen Johnny Bairstow, Priyam Garg and Khalil Ahmed were not included in the playing eleven and was replaced by Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha and Shahbaz Nadeem in the squad. At the same time, there was no change in Delhi.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have moved to the sixth spot on points tally. They are tied with Rajasthan Royals on the points table (10 points each) but SRH current net run rate is better than Rajasthan Royals (-0.505), Kings XI Punjab (-0.049) and Kolkata Knight Riders (-0.479) who are also trying for the fourth spot.
