IPL 2020: RR vs DC, Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by 46 Runs, Back on Top of The Points Table, RR’s Fourth Consecutive Defeat

Delhi Capitals (DC) has registered its 5th win in the tournament by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 46 runs. On the other hand, this is the fourth consecutive defeat of the Rajasthan Royals. Delhi reached top of the points table with this win.

In the 23rd match of the 13th season of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 46 runs. Delhi lost the toss and gave the target of 185 runs. It was the shortest target of the season in Sharjah, which Rajasthan could not achieve and were all out for 138 runs in 19.4 overs. Earlier in this season, the team batting first had scored more than 200 runs in all matches played here.

Rahul Tewatia scored the highest 38 runs for Rajasthan. Apart from this, Yashasvi Jaiswal played an innings of 34 runs. Kagiso Rabada took 3, Ravichandran Ashwin and Marcus Stoinis took 2-2 wickets. Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel and Harshal Patel took 1-1 wickets. This is Rajasthan’s fourth consecutive defeat in the season. At the same time, Delhi reached the top of the points table with 5 wins.

Buttler Disappoints Again

Rajasthan did not have a good start. Opener Jos Butler could not deliver the kind of start RR need to chase the target and only score just 13 runs. He was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. Shikhar Dhawan caught his brilliant catch. After this, Yashasvi Jaiswal (34 runs) and Steve Smith (24 runs) played carefully and increased the team’s score to 41 for one wicket in the power-play. Smith was dismissed by Anrich Nortje.

Delhi Scored 184 For 8 Wickets

After losing the toss and invited to bat, Delhi scored 184 for 8 wickets. Shimron Hetmyer scored the highest score of 45 runs for Delhi. He hit 5 sixes and 1 four off 24 deliveries. Marcus Stoinis scored 39 runs off 30 deliveries. He hit 4 sixes in his innings.

Apart from these two, Akshar Patel scored 17 and Harshal Patel scored 16 runs. Rishabh Pant could not do anything special for the team and could score only 5 runs. Jofra Archer of Rajasthan took 3 wickets. Also, Andrew Tye, Rahul Tewatia and Karthik Tyagi got 1-1 wickets.

Delhi Lost 3 Wickets in Power-Play

Delhi did not start well. Both of his openers returned to the pavilion in the first 5 overs. First Shikhar Dhawan (5) was caught by Jofra Archer in the hands of Yashasvi Jaiswal. After this, Prithvi Shaw (19) also could not last on the pitch. He was also dismissed by Jofra Archer. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer (22) was run out by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 6th over.

Stoinis Hetmyer Brought Momentum to Delhi

Delhi could not save their wickets on this small ground. After the dismissals of Shaw and Iyer, the series of falling wickets did not stop. Meanwhile, first Marcus Stoinis and then Shimron Hetmyer continued their efforts to keep the innings on track. Stoinis scored 39 runs in 30 balls with the help of 4 sixes. When Stoinis was out, Shimron Hetmyer continued to make some more runs for the team. He scored a blistering 45-run knock in just 24 balls, which included 1 four and 5 sixes.

Axar’s Short But Useful Innings

Hetmyer was dismissed in the final overs of the innings, but here Axar Patel played a small but useful inning and brought Delhi’s score to 180. Axar scored a useful 17 runs in 8 balls with the help of 2 fours and a six, on which Delhi challenged with a target of 185 runs.

Shortest Target of The Season

Delhi gave Rajasthan a target of 185 runs. This is the shortest target of the season in Sharjah. Earlier in the 4 matches played in Sharjah, the team’s batting first had scored more than 200 runs. It was at this ground that Delhi gave Kolkata Knight Riders the biggest target of 229 runs of the season.

Changes in The Team

Rajasthan made two changes in the team. Andrew Tye and Varun Aaron replaced Tom Curran and Ankit Rajput. At the same time, there was no change in the playing eleven of Delhi.
