IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals Will Spread Awareness For “Menstruation”

In the upcoming 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), our star cricketers will now be seen to spread the awareness for “menstruation”.

The jerseys of Rajasthan Royals’ players will have a sanitary pad manufacturer company logo on it. Rajasthan Royals is the first IPL team to enter into a sponsorship deal with a sanitary pad manufacturer. RR has agreed to promote the sanitary pads of the Indian company ‘NINE’.

Now the star players of Rajasthan Royals like Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, will be seen wearing jerseys with ‘NINE’ logo.

Jake Lush McCrum, the team’s chief operating officer believes that menstruation is still considered as one of the taboo topics to be discussed in many countries and India is one such country.

It is evident that both women and men feel uncomfortable talking about it, not only in India but in many countries.

McCrum also said that in South Asian countries, there is a belief that women are impure during menstruation. People consider it as a taboo and because of this many women have to undergo discrimination and face difficulties.

According to McCrum, crores of women and girls of menstrual age in India still use clothes, sacks or leaves during menstruation. The main reason is the lack of access to cheap sanitary pads and lack of awareness about hygiene.

Meanwhile, ‘NINE’ product manager Amar Tulsiyan said that the main reason behind the sponsorship deal with Rajasthan Royals is to bring the ‘menstruation awareness’ among the people. People need to normalise it. They have to realize that sanitary pads should also be included in the items coming every month in the house.

Brother, father or son, everyone should take care of their sisters, daughters and mothers during menstruation time and have to ensure that every woman in the house uses only clean and safe sanitary pads during menstruation.
