Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having the toughest time in the history of the IPL as they have won only 3 games out of the ten they played so far in the ongoing season. They are currently sitting on the bottom of the points table (IPL 2020) with six points. Their chances of qualifying the playoffs are very rare and in case if it happens it would be a first time in the history of the IPL that CSK wouldn’t qualify the playoffs, despite playing the season.

While many are criticizing MS Dhoni for his poor performance in the season, few are blaming the team management for not giving the chance to youngsters. After the previous loss against Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni indicated that he might give chance to the players, who are seen warming the bench in the last few matches.

Imran Tahir, the purple cap holder of the IPL-2019, is one such player. He has been warming the bench since day one. He hasn’t given a chance in the playing 11 of CSK in the last ten matches. But now it seems that he could be selected for the next match as CSK’s death over specialist Dwayne Bravo ruled out of the league due to a groin injury. This might pave the way for Imran Tahir to be in the eleven for the first time this season.

Recently, Imran Tahir opened up about CSK in the Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube show ‘Hello Dubaiahh’. He termed Chennai Super Kings as the best team of all the teams he has played with. He said that he enjoys the most with CSK. He appreciated the Chennai based franchise for all the respect they give him. He also talked about the supportive environment in the dressing room.

“Best team, from my heart is Chennai. I’ve been all over the world. I’ve never seen so much respect given from a franchise. I’ve never seen someone look after my family so well, the fans in Chennai are unbelievably lovely.”

“When I play there it was a different atmosphere. And the main reason is I love their culture. They don’t talk about performances and are always supportive and that’s is what I like about it as in cricket — you’ll perform one day, and not on another.”

On being asked about when he could be seen in the playing eleven, Tahir clearly stated that he doesn’t have any idea about it. He further mentioned how painful it was for him to see his teammate Faf du Plessis carrying drinks for most of the last season.

He further explained how his exclusion in the playing eleven is justified with the presence of Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo in the team. Nevertheless, he is hopeful of getting a chance in the remaining four matches.

“I have no clue. Earlier, Faf Du Plessis had to carry drinks the whole season. It was quite painful. He’s got a brilliant T20 average. I’m doing that this year. I actually got an idea of how he felt. I have been talking to him as well. And once four overseas players are settled in CSK then it’s hard for the fifth guy. I hope I get a game,” said Imran Tahir.
