Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals have started their campaign on a remarkable note. They have won 2 games out of the 3 they have played so far. They are sitting on the fifth place of the IPL 2020 points table with 4 points.

Rajasthan Royals’ side is considered to be the strongest one in the IPL 2020 with the presence of great batsmen like Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and David Miller.

Now to strengthen the team, star all-rounder Ben Stokes is all set to join the Rajasthan Royals contingent, following a period of compassionate leave in New Zealand.

The veteran was spending time in Christchurch with his family and in particular with his father who is battling brain cancer. Stokes missed the initial phase of the IPL 2020 but now he is all set to make a comeback for Rajasthan Royals’ side. He was last seen during the Pakistan Series when he left it mid-way and flew back home.

Stokes has left for the UAE to join the Rajasthan Royals camp. He will join RR’s side after serving 7 days of isolation. “Goodbyes never get any easier,” he said as quoted by the Mirror.

Stokes’ presence in the team will definitely boost up the performance of Rajasthan Royals. They are already doing fantastic with the players like Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Jos Buttler. Now with the addition of the veteran, RR’s middle over will boost up. Stokes is an important part of RR’s camp, was snapped up by the franchise in 2018 for a hefty sum of INR 12.5 crore.

Stokes can make his debut in the match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on October 14. He will be able to play 7 games to play before RR potentially book a Playoffs berth. The left-hander was recently spotted training at Sydenham Cricket Club. He had even shared a video while bowling in the nets.

Recently, Rajasthan Royals’ mentor Shane Warne had also wished for Stokes’ return in order to strengthen their side’s line-up.

“Hopefully, Ben Stokes would play a part this year, he’s a big loss and our thoughts are with him, but you know, add Ben to the team that played the other night and it looks a very very good side,” Warne had said.
