India have been drawn in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE and Oman. Their campaign begins on September 10 against UAE in Dubai, followed by the high-voltage clash against Pakistan on September 13 at the same venue. The group stage ends with a match against Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. The Super Four stage will follow, with the final scheduled for September 28.

The tournament will be played in the T20 format. Initially planned to be hosted in India, it has now been shifted to the UAE due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Suryakumar’s appointment continues his run as T20 captain after leading the team in 2024. Gill, who has been more involved in the Test setup, will get his first major assignment as vice-captain in the shortest format.

The squad features a mix of young batters like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma alongside experienced campaigners such as Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. Shivam Dube and Axar Patel provide all-round options, while Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson are the wicketkeepers. Varun Chakaravarthy and Arshdeep Singh strengthen the bowling attack, and Harshit Rana has been rewarded for his consistent form.

The selectors have also kept a strong set of reserves, with Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal named as standbys.
