India’s Asia Cup 2025 Squad: Jasprit Bumrah Makes Himself Available
Jasprit Bumrah confirms availability for Asia Cup 2025, but may miss India’s home Tests vs West Indies due to workload concerns.
Team India received a big boost ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, as Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his availability for the tournament.
The star pacer reportedly had a word with one of the selectors and assured them that he is fit and ready to play. For India, this comes as massive relief with the marquee event just weeks away.
Bumrah’s workload management
Bumrah’s workload has been a concern ever since he picked up a back injury during the Australia series. The management has been cautious with him, which is why he missed two of the five Tests against England earlier this year. With the Asia Cup now in focus, his fitness becomes even more crucial.
The Asia Cup is scheduled from September 9 to 28. India’s home Test series against West Indies begins just three days later, on October 2.
If India make the Asia Cup final, Bumrah would get no proper rest before the Tests, raising fears of another setback. Given his history of injuries, the selectors may prefer resting him for the Tests instead.
Why Asia Cup matters more
In multi-nation tournaments, India heavily rely on Bumrah’s ability to deliver with both the new ball and at the death. Even when not at full fitness, his presence transforms India’s bowling attack. With the team eyeing back-to-back Asia Cup titles, his availability is a major boost.
On the other hand, the West Indies Tests are expected to be played on spin-friendly tracks at home. India have enough resources in Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar to dominate the visitors without Bumrah’s services.
