India Women Storm Into World Cup Semi-Finals After Massive Win Over New Zealand

The India women’s cricket team has sealed their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after a solid win against New Zealand at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. It was a must-win game for Harmanpreet Kaur and her side, and they delivered when it mattered the most.

India started their campaign brightly with wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan but slipped midway after losing three straight games to South Africa, Australia, and England. With the pressure on, the team bounced back in style, showing character and control against the White Ferns.

The batters laid the foundation with steady partnerships, and the bowlers made sure the job was done with a disciplined effort. The two points from this win took India’s total to six points, putting them in a comfortable position in the top four.

Even if India lose their final group match against Bangladesh, they are assured of a place in the semi-finals. The reason is that they have more wins than other teams that could end up with the same points, which is the first tiebreaker as per ICC rules.

Australia, England, and South Africa had already booked their places earlier. Defending champions Australia remain unbeaten and are sitting at the top with 11 points.

South Africa are second with 10 points, while England hold third after their narrow win over India last week. With India’s qualification now confirmed, the stage is set for two exciting semi-finals.

The first semi-final will take place on 29 October at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, followed by the second at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 30 October.
