India vs England 3rd T20I – Match Highlights and Scorecard

England defeated India by 26 runs in the 3rd T20I match of the England tour of India 2025.

England kept the five-match T20I series alive by defeating India by 26 runs in the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday, January 28. India, after winning the toss, opted to bowl first, but England posted a competitive total of 171/9 in their 20 overs.

England’s Innings

England’s innings were built around crucial knocks from Ben Duckett (51 off 28 balls) and Liam Livingstone (43 off 24 balls). Duckett’s aggressive approach set the tone, while Livingstone provided the finishing touches in the death overs.

However, it was India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who was the star with the ball, picking up a remarkable 5/24 in his four overs. Chakravarthy was instrumental in breaking England’s momentum, dismissing key batters like Jos Buttler (24), Jamie Smith (6), Jamie Overton (0), Brydon Carse (3), and Jofra Archer (0).

Chakravarthy’s spell, along with Hardik Pandya’s 2/33, helped India restrict England’s batting order, which faltered after a solid start. Despite a late cameo from Adil Rashid (10*) and Mark Wood (10*), England managed only 171/9, setting a challenging target for the hosts.

India’s Chase

India’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets. Sanju Samson (3), Abhishek Sharma (24), and Suryakumar Yadav (14) were dismissed cheaply, leaving the team in trouble at 48/3. Hardik Pandya fought back with a steady knock of 40 off 35 balls, but lacked support from the other end.

Axar Patel (15) and Washington Sundar (6) also fell as India struggled to gain momentum. India’s lower order couldn’t provide the required push either, with Dhruv Jurel (2), Mohammed Shami (7), and Ravi Bishnoi (4*) all falling in quick succession. At 140/9, India’s chase faltered, and they were bowled out for just 145 in 20 overs.

England’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Jofra Archer (2/33), Mark Wood (1/29), Brydon Carse (2/28), and Jamie Overton (3/24), was too much for India to handle. The visitors’ victory keeps the series alive, with the current score standing at 2-1 in favor of India.
