India-Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Series Postponed Amid Tension and Scheduling Concerns
India’s home series against Bangladesh women, set for December, is postponed with new dates to be announced later.
India’s home series against Bangladesh women, set for December, has been postponed. The tour included three ODIs and three T20Is and was expected to be India’s final international outing before the 2026 Women’s Premier League.
The BCB confirmed the delay after receiving an official letter from the BCCI. No clear reason was stated, but the move comes at a time when political tension between the two countries has been growing. Officials have hinted that scheduling concerns also played a part.
The series was part of the ICC Future Tours Programme, so both boards will work on fresh dates. A joint statement said, “This decision has been reached after discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams.” It also added that the BCB hopes to host India in September 2026.
This is not the first change between the two sides this year. The Indian men’s tour of Bangladesh was also pushed to September 2026. The women last met during the 2025 World Cup, where rain washed out their match.
The delay leaves India with a long gap before the WPL. After the league, the team will travel to Australia for a full series. Bangladesh’s next set of matches is still not confirmed.
Match context and what lies ahead
The postponed series was important for India, as it was the final chance to fine tune combinations before the WPL. Coaches were keen on trying younger players and giving game time to the core group. The break now means players will move into the WPL without recent international cricket.
For Bangladesh, the tour was a chance to test their growing squad against a stronger side. Their board will now have to find new fixtures to keep players active.
Both boards say new dates will be shared soon. Until then, players will focus on training camps and domestic matches to stay ready.
