Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma registering the highest-ever opening partnership against West Indies.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma made history on the second day of the ongoing Test against West Indies, registering the highest-ever opening partnership against West Indies in the history of Test cricket.

They notched up a 229-run stand for the opening wicket, surpassing the previous record held by Wasim Jaffer and Virender Sehwag’s 159-run opening partnership against West Indies in 2006 at St Lucia.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, the West Indies found themselves in a precarious situation as they were bowled out for just 150 runs in 64.3 overs on the first day of the Test.

In reply, India made a blazing start, with both Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal scoring a century each. While the Indian captain was dismissed for 103 runs off Alick Athanaze’s bowling, Yashasvi is unbeaten for 116 runs at the time of writing this article.
