Ashwin achieved this feat when he picked up the wicket of Alzarri Joseph in the 52.4th over of the first innings. It was his third wicket of the day and his overall 700th international wicket.
With this, he became the third-highest wicket-taker in India’s cricket history. Topping this prestigious list is the legendary Anil Kumble, the former Indian spinner, who picked up 956 wickets in international cricket.
Following closely behind is Punjab spinner Harbhajan Singh, securing the second position with an impressive 711 wickets, while Ashwin claims the third spot with his recent achievement of 700 wickets.
