India were chasing 271 when Rohit got to the milestone on 27. He went on to score a smooth 75 off 73 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. His timing looked clean from the start and he played with freedom.

His new tally also pushed him past AB de Villiers into 13th place on the all-time international run charts. Even though he now plays only ODIs after stepping away from T20Is and retiring from Tests, his impact remains strong.

He added 155 runs for the first wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal. The stand set up a comfortable chase and kept South Africa under pressure from the early overs.

South Africa had posted 270 thanks to Quinton de Kock’s 23rd ODI hundred. At one stage they were cruising at 168 for 2.

Prasidh Krishna then produced an important burst and picked up key wickets. His spell dragged the visitors back to 199 for 5 and opened the game for India.

Kuldeep Yadav wrapped up the innings with figures of 4 for 41. His control in the middle overs and late strikes kept the target within reach.
