Coming into the match, Hardik was on 99 T20I wickets. The landmark moment arrived on the last ball of the seventh over, and it came at an important time for India.

Bowling a back-of-a-length delivery outside off, Hardik got the ball to shape away from Tristan Stubbs. The South Africa batter went chasing it and nicked it thickly behind the stumps.

Jitesh Sharma, standing in as wicketkeeper, made no mistake and completed a clean catch. Stubbs walked back for 9 off 13 balls, and South Africa slipped to four wickets down.

As soon as the catch was taken, Hardik raised his hand in celebration. It marked his 100th wicket in T20 internationals, a big achievement for India’s premier seam-bowling all-rounder.

With this wicket, Hardik became only the third Indian men’s bowler to reach the 100-wicket mark in T20Is. He now joins Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah in this elite list.

Arshdeep currently leads the chart with 112 T20I wickets, while Bumrah has 101. Interestingly, Bumrah also crossed the 100-wicket mark earlier in this very series.

The wicket of Stubbs also helped India tighten their grip on the match, as South Africa were looking to rebuild after losing early wickets.

Hardik Pandya is also the first seamer to achieve a double of 1000-plus runs and 100-plus wickets in Men’s T20Is. Three spin bowling all-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, and Sikandar Raza have achieved the feat previously.

With the T20 World Cup in 2026 on the horizon, Hardik’s form with the ball will be a major boost for India. His all-round impact continues to grow with every series.
