IND vs PAK: Jasprit Bumrah’s Send-Off to Haris Rauf Adds Fire to Heated Asia Cup Final

Jasprit Bumrah’s fiery send-off to Haris Rauf in the Asia Cup final reignited tensions in an already controversial tournament.

The Asia Cup 2025 final had its biggest flashpoint in the 18th over when Jasprit Bumrah bowled Haris Rauf, knocking back his off-stump and following it with a fiery send-off.

Bumrah mimicked a “plane crashing down” gesture, the same one Rauf had made toward Indian fans during the Super Fours clash earlier in the tournament. At that time, the Pakistan pacer’s actions were widely seen as a reference to the India–Pakistan military conflict earlier this year and sparked heavy criticism.

Rauf’s earlier antics had already soured the atmosphere. He was filmed making the gesture on the boundary line and had also exchanged heated words with India’s Abhishek Sharma during the same game.

The send-off has now become the latest chapter in what has been one of the most politically charged Asia Cups in history. India’s players twice refused handshakes with Pakistan, leading to official complaints from the PCB and even threats of a boycott. Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha added to the drama by skipping a mandatory press conference before the Super Fours clash.

With Bumrah’s gesture, tensions that had been simmering throughout the tournament boiled over once again.
