IND vs NZ: Rohit Sharma Equals Ricky Ponting’s Massive Record With 30th ODI Century

Rohit Sharma hit his 30th ODI hundred against New Zealand on Tuesday.

Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday (January 24) accomplished a personal milestone that he had been striving for over the past three years, by scoring a century in a One-Day International match, during India’s third ODI against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

The Mumbai batter looked in stellar form as he clobbered the New Zealand bowling attack all around the park. He smacked 9 fours and 6 sixes to bring up the milestone in just 83 balls. Rohit reached his half-century in just 41 deliveries and the next 50 runs came in 42 balls.

It was his 30th ODI hundred and with this, the Indian skipper is now joint third on the list of most ODI hundreds. Australia’s batting legend Ricky Ponting had finished with 30 hundred from 375 one-day internationals while Rohit reached the milestone in his 241st match.

India’s legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli lead the ODI hundreds list. While Tendulkar finished his career with 49 centuries in 50-Overs format, Kohli has 46 ODI hundreds so far. Rohit is only behind this duo among the list of players with the most tons in the 50-over format in history.
