IND vs ENG: Washington Sundar Smashes 53 off 46 to Shake Up England in Oval Test

Washington Sundar played a brilliant counter-attacking knock on Day 3 of the fifth Test against England, scoring a quick 53 off just 46 balls. His innings gave India a much-needed boost in the final stretch of their second innings.

Coming in after the dismissals of Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj, Sundar wasted no time. He launched into the England pacers, especially Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson, smashing 4 fours and 4 sixes.

He reached his fifty in just 39 balls and celebrated with a loud roar, pumping his fist as his teammates cheered him on from the dressing room.

More than the runs, it was the way Sundar batted that stood out. He smartly protected No. 11 Prasidh Krishna while keeping the scoreboard ticking. Their last-wicket stand added vital runs before India were all out for 396.

Josh Tongue finished with five wickets for England, but Sundar’s late charge ensured India set a solid target of 374.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri praised Sundar during commentary and fondly recalled his century at Old Trafford earlier in the series. It was Sundar and Jadeja’s partnership in that match that helped India escape with a draw.

In this innings, India had strong contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal (118), Akash Deep (66), Jadeja (53), and Dhruv Jurel (34), along with Sundar’s explosive knock.

England now need 374 runs to win the Test and seal the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 3-1. India, on the other hand, need 9 wickets to level the series.
