Joe Root overtakes Dravid, Kallis to become 3rd-highest run-scorer in Tests; now closing in on Ponting, Tendulkar
Joe Root just made history at Old Trafford. The former England captain has now gone past Rahul Dravid and Jacques Kallis to become the third-highest run-scorer in Test cricket.
This milestone came on Day 3 of the ongoing Manchester Test against India. Root, who looked in full control alongside Ollie Pope, added yet another feather to his glittering red-ball career.
Root Goes Past Dravid and Kallis
Root came to the crease after a strong opening stand by Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. Once settled, he kept piling on the runs and soon edged past two Test legends, Jacques Kallis (13289 runs) and Rahul Dravid (13288 runs).
Root is now third on the all-time list with 13294 runs in just 286 innings*.
