IND vs ENG: Rift Between Gambhir and Pant? Jadeja Drops a Shocking Story from Delhi Camp!
Rishabh Pant’s twin tons in the Headingley Test wowed fans, but Gautam Gambhir’s cold response at the press conference and an old story shared by Ajay Jadeja hint at possible past tensions

India may have lost the Headingley Test against England, but Rishabh Pant gave fans something to smile about. The wicketkeeper-batter scored two centuries in the match and showed signs of returning to his best form.
After the match ended, head coach Gautam Gambhir came for the post-match press conference. A journalist asked him a question about Pant’s back-to-back hundreds and how it felt to watch his vice-captain play such a brilliant knock.
But Gambhir did not respond directly. Instead, he interrupted the question midway and said:
“Jaiswal, Gill, and Rahul have also scored centuries.”
This reply quickly went viral on social media. Many fans felt that Gambhir tried to avoid giving Pant credit alone, and instead tried to highlight other players.
Jadeja Shares Old Story From Delhi Camp
After the match, former India cricketer and Delhi coach Ajay Jadeja shared a very interesting story on Sony Sports. He recalled an old incident when Gambhir was captain of the Delhi team, and Pant was not picked.
“I was the coach of Delhi for a few days. There was an argument between selectors and captain. Pant was not picked. But I still told him to come for practice,” Jadeja said.
What Pant told Jadeja after that left him surprised.
“Bhaiya rehne do na, jab zaroorat padegi, ghar se bulayenge (Let it be, bhaiya. When they need me, they’ll call me from home),” Pant had said as per Jadeja.
Did Gambhir Really Not Support Pant?
Gambhir led Delhi between 2014 and 2017. Around the same time, Pant was starting to come into the scene. Fans now believe that things between the two were never very smooth, even back then.
Later, both were also part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the IPL. Though there is no official confirmation of any rift, the old story shared by Jadeja and Gambhir’s recent press conference answer have added fuel to the fire.
