IND vs ENG: India Smashes Highest PowerPlay Score in T20I History
India scored 95/1 in powerplay against England during the 5th T20I.

Indian National Cricket Team achieved its highest-ever PowerPlay score during the fifth T20I against England at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Sunday. The hosts broke their previous record of 82 runs, set during the T20 World Cup in 2021 against Scotland, which was also matched in a 2024 encounter with Bangladesh.
Abhishek Sharma, who scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in T20Is, led the charge in the opening overs. He was soon joined by Tilak Varma, and the duo quickly brought up their 50-run partnership in just 18 balls. This explosive start helped India reach a staggering 95/1 in the PowerPlay.
This score is also the fourth-highest PowerPlay score in T20I history. Australia holds the record for the highest PowerPlay score, with 113 runs against Scotland in 2024.
