IND vs ENG: “He is Ready” – India Coach Breaks Silence on Jasprit Bumrah’s Availability for 2nd Test

Jasprit Bumrah available for 2nd Test vs England, confirms India coach Ryan ten Doeschate; no injury concerns

Jasprit Bumrah is not ruled out of the second Test. India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed this on Monday, June 30. He said that Bumrah is available for selection.

The second Test will begin on July 2 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Earlier, many reports said Bumrah may not play. Photos from training sessions also made fans worry. But ten Doeschate cleared the air.

“He’s available for the game, obviously,” said Ryan ten Doeschate.

“We know from the start he’s only going to play three out of the five. He’s had eight days to recover from the last Test.”

He said that the team has not taken a final decision yet. Bumrah may be rested, but only for workload reasons. There is no injury issue.

“Given conditions, workload, and how we think we can best manage for the next four games, we haven’t made a call on that,” he added.

“We’re going to see what the other guys are with their workload as well. So technically, yes, he’s available.”

Ryan ten Doeschate gave this update while speaking to the media. He was also celebrating his 45th birthday on the same day.

Even after the coach’s statement, some reports say Bumrah might still be rested. According to a report, Akash Deep is likely to join the pace attack with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. But nothing is official yet.

At the training ground, Bumrah was seen having a long chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Bumrah is one of India’s top fast bowlers. If he plays, it will be a big boost for Team India. If he is rested, it will be for his own good, to manage his workload across five long Test matches.
