With the five-match series tied at 1-1, both India and England ended their first innings on 387. But it’s not just the bat and ball that’s making headlines.

Dinesh Karthik’s Lighthearted Dig

On Day 4, Dinesh Karthik made a hilarious comment that has fans talking. While doing commentary, the former India wicketkeeper joked that Rishabh Pant should “share his match fees with Dhruv Jurel.”

The reason? Jurel has been doing the wicketkeeping job for the team ever since Pant injured his finger on Day 1.

Pant hurt his left index finger while trying to collect a delivery and hasn’t kept wickets since then. But he showed grit with the bat, scoring a vital 74 despite the injury. Dhruv Jurel, meanwhile, stepped up behind the stumps and has impressed with his clean glovework.

Why Jurel Can’t Bat

While Jurel is doing the keeping job, he won’t be allowed to bat if Pant is fit. That’s due to ICC rules which state that a substitute fielder, even a keeper, can’t bat unless it’s a concussion replacement.

This makes Rishabh Pant’s fitness even more important going into the final innings. India are chasing a tricky target, and with conditions tough, they’ll need Pant’s fearless batting down the order.
