IND vs ENG: Blow for India? Shubman Gill Provides Major Injury Update on Rishabh Pant
Shubman Gill confirms Rishabh Pant went for scans and is likely to be fit for the fourth Test at Manchester.
India may have lost a nail-biting thriller at Lord’s, but fans are still keeping a close eye on Rishabh Pant.
The star wicketkeeper-batter hurt his finger on Day 1, raising concerns about his fitness for the remaining matches in the series.
Now, captain Shubman Gill has shared an important update after the defeat.
Gill Shares Big News On Pant’s Fitness
After India’s 22-run loss to England on Day 5 of the third Test, Shubman Gill spoke to the media and confirmed that Pant had gone for scans.
The captain added that things are looking good, and the keeper-batter should recover in time for the next match.
“Rishabh Pant went for scans and he should be fine for the next Test,” Gill said, as reported by TOI.
Pant has been one of India’s biggest stars in the series. Despite his injury, he scored a fighting 74 in the first innings, batting with a taped finger.
However, in the second innings, he could manage just 9 as India fell short chasing 193.
Dhruv Jurel Took Over Gloves
Since Pant was unable to keep wickets after his injury, Dhruv Jurel stepped in behind the stumps.
The young keeper impressed many with his neat work, especially under pressure. But fans would be hoping Pant is fit enough to take back the gloves in Manchester.
India are currently trailing 1-2 in the five-match series. The fourth Test begins on July 23 at Old Trafford.
