IND vs ENG: Abhishek Sharma Makes a Mockery of England’s Bowling Attack, Hits 20-Ball 50
Abhishek Sharma scored a 20-ball 50 against England in the 1st T20I.

Abhishek Sharma lit up Eden Gardens with an explosive 20-ball fifty during the first T20I against England on Wednesday, January 22. The Indian opener was in scintillating form, taking the England bowlers to task in pursuit of a modest target of 134 runs.
Opening alongside Sanju Samson, Abhishek wasted no time unleashing his aggressive intent. From the first delivery, the left-hander displayed his impeccable timing and power, finding the gaps and clearing the boundary with ease.
Abhishek brought up his fifty in spectacular fashion during the ninth over. On the second ball, bowled by Jamie Overton, he received a short-pitched delivery at 140.7kph. Abhishek got inside the line and hooked it over fine leg for a massive six, reaching his milestone in just 20 balls. The Indian dugout erupted with joy as Abhishek removed his glove and pointed skywards in celebration.
India seemed in a hurry to chase down the small target of 134 runs set by England. Sanju Samson provided a steady start, scoring 26 runs off 20 balls before falling to a soft dismissal. However, skipper Suryakumar Yadav endured a rare failure, registering a three-ball duck.
Despite the early loss of wickets, Abhishek’s fireworks ensured India remained on track for a comfortable victory. His fearless stroke play and quick scoring rate kept the pressure off the middle order, leaving England with no answers.
India’s bowlers had earlier restricted England to 132 runs, with Varun Chakravarthy leading the charge with three crucial wickets. Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya supported well, claiming two wickets each. Jos Buttler’s lone resistance with a 68-run knock was the only highlight for England’s batting lineup.
