“I’m not someone who’ll run with a stick behind someone” – Rohit Sharma on Being Asked What Kind of Captain He Was?

Mumbai defeated Delhi in the final of IPL 2020 to lift the trophy fifth time. Rohit Sharma praises all the staff working behind the scene.

Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final of the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) to lift the trophy for the fifth time in 13 years. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma on being asked that what kind of captain he was? at the post-match presentation.

Rohit replied, ” I’m not someone who’ll run with a stick behind someone. The only way you can do it is by giving them confidence. So you have to strike that right balance”

MI skipper praised all the staff who work hard backstage.

Rohit said, ” We couldn’t have asked for anything more, right on the money from ball one and we never looked back. I think a lot of credit goes to the people who worked behind the scenes – often they go unnoticed.”

“Our work started long before the IPL started, and we wanted to make sure we filled the gaps in previous seasons,” Rohit added.

Rohit Sharma regretted the run out of Suryakumar Yadav.

“The kind of form he was in, I should have sacrificed my wicket for Surya. But throughout the tournament, he has played some incredible shots.”

The  13th edition of Indian Premier League was played behind close doors in UAE amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t have the fans at the stadium. We missed playing at the Wankhede and hopefully, we can get back there next year,” Rohit said.
