West Indies women created history on Monday, October 1, by completing the highest-ever run chase in women’s T20 Internationals, defeating Australia by seven wickets at North Sydney Oval.
Hayley Kristen Matthews stole the spotlight as she blazed her way to 132 runs from only 64 balls, embedded with 20 boundaries and five sixes, guiding West Indies to a remarkable chase of 213 runs in just 19.5 overs.

Stafanie Taylor also contributed to the score with a well-played 59 runs from 41 balls. Earlier, Australia went on to post 212 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs after putting to bat first.
Ellyse Perry, Phoebe Litchfield, and Georgia Wareham were the top contributors with the bat for the host nation, amassing 70, 52, and 32 runs, respectively. Beth Mooney also played a decent innings, scoring 29 runs from 22 balls.
But in the end, Hayley Matthew’s extraordinary innings eclipsed it all. The West Indies batter has been in the form of her life. She recently smashed an unbeaten 99 from just 74 balls against Australia Women in the series opener, which the hosts won by eight wickets.
