Harmanpreet Kaur’s India Set to Face Australia in High-Stakes Semi-Final
India will face Australia in the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 at Navi Mumbai after Australia beat South Africa to confirm the lineup.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s India will face Australia in the second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 on Thursday, October 30, at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The match-up was confirmed after Australia beat South Africa in their final group stage game at Indore.
In that match, South Africa struggled with the bat and were bowled out for just 97. Australia chased the total easily, winning by seven wickets with plenty of overs to spare.
The win helped Australia top the group with 13 points from seven matches. The other semi-final will see England take on South Africa on October 29 at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
India had already secured their semi-final spot after a big win against New Zealand earlier this week. The hosts started the tournament well with wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but they stumbled in three games against South Africa, Australia, and England.
Their last group stage match against New Zealand was a must-win. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal both scored centuries, helping India put more than 300 on the board. Even though rain shortened the game, India held on to win using the DLS method.
Despite their struggles, India will enter the semi-final as underdogs against a strong Australian side. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team will hope to lift the spirits of the home crowd as they aim for a place in the final. India will finish the group stage with a final game against Bangladesh on Sunday.
Full Semi-Finals Lineup:
