Harbhajan Singh Slams Lalit Modi for Leaking The Infamous “Slapgate” Video from IPL 2008
Harbhajan Singh slams Lalit Modi for leaking IPL 2008 slapgate video, calls it selfish; Sreesanth’s wife also reacts.
Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has strongly criticised Lalit Modi for leaking the infamous “slapgate” video from the first IPL season in 2008.
The video, which showed Harbhajan slapping S Sreesanth, was revealed during a podcast featuring the ex-IPL commissioner and former Australia captain Michael Clarke.
Back in 2008, fans had only seen Sreesanth crying after the incident as the broadcaster quickly cut to commercials.
Now, for the first time, the full clip has come out, showing Harbhajan delivering a back-handed slap and players rushing in to stop the two.
Harbhajan Calls Modi “selfish”
Speaking during a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Harbhajan said the release of the footage was unfair and unnecessary.
“The way the video has been leaked is wrong. It shouldn’t have happened. There seems to be a selfish motive behind it. This happened 18 years ago, people had moved on, but now it’s being brought back,” he told Instant Bollywood.
He also admitted again that his behaviour on that day was a mistake.
“I feel bad for what happened. We were playing, emotions were high, and mistakes were made. I’ve accepted mine and feel ashamed about it. I’ve always said I made a mistake, and humans do make mistakes. I even prayed to Lord Ganesh to forgive me if I err again.
