Gongadi Trisha Stars as India Clinch Second Successive U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Title

India wins their second consecutive U-19 Women's T20 World Cup.

India lifted their second consecutive U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title with a thumping nine-wicket victory over South Africa in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. The team chased down the target with ease, winning the match with 52 balls to spare. With this win, India became the first team to win the tournament without losing a single match.

Gongadi Trisha Shines with Bat and Ball

All-rounder Gongadi Trisha was the standout performer of the final. First, she took 3/15 with the ball, troubling South Africa’s batters with her spin. Then, she led India’s chase with an unbeaten 44 off 33 balls, smashing eight fours to take her team to victory.

South Africa struggled after choosing to bat first. Left-arm spinner Aayushi Shukla (2/9) and Parunika (2/6) provided early breakthroughs, while Shabnam Shakil (1/7) also kept things tight. South Africa could only manage 82 runs before getting bowled out on the last ball of their innings.

India’s Unstoppable Run

India’s chase started well, with Trisha attacking from the start. Kamalini G also chipped in before getting out for 8, but vice-captain Sanika Chalke (26* off 22 balls) ensured there were no further hiccups. She finished the game with a boundary, sparking huge celebrations in the Indian camp.

This victory capped off a dream campaign for India. They won all their group-stage matches against the West Indies, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. In the Super Six stage, they continued their dominance with wins over Bangladesh and Scotland. A comfortable semi-final win against England set up the title clash, where Trisha’s brilliance sealed India’s unbeaten triumph.
