Gautam Gambhir Appointed as New Head Coach of India; BCCI to Make Official Announcement Soon

BCCI will soon make an official announcement regarding Gautam Gambhir’s head coach appointment.

In the latest turn of events, an IPL owner has confirmed the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the next head coach of Team India. He will take over the reins from Rahul Dravid, whose tenure will come to an end after the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Cricbuzz confirms the report, stating that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make the official announcement soon regarding Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as the head coach.

Notably, around two weeks ago, the BCCI opened applications for the new head coach position. According to reports, they approached Australian legends like Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer, and former New Zealand cricketer Stephen Fleming for the role, but all of them declined the position.

The BCCI then offered the role to Gautam Gambhir, who accepted it. Gambhir has enjoyed significant success in his cricket career and beyond. Recently, he guided KKR to the IPL 2024 title as a mentor in his first ever season.

Gautam Gambhir’s tenure will officially start after the T20 World Cup 2024.
