Former CSK Player Reveals MS Dhoni’s Dark Side When He Lost His Calm

S. Badrinath revealed one rare instance where MS Dhoni lost cool.

MS Dhoni’s reputation as ‘Captain Cool’ is well-earned, given his ability to stay calm under pressure. However, Subramaniam Badrinath, a former CSK player, shed light on a different side of Dhoni.

S. Badrinath revealed that MS Dhoni was frustrated and very angry during a certain match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru when the team experienced a sudden batting collapse in a low-total run chase.

S. Badrinath reflected on a match where CSK was chasing a total of around 110 runs. The batters took some wild shots, which put them in a precarious position.

Badrinath mentioned that he got out to Anil Kumble while trying a lap shot. He described Dhoni’s frustration as visible when he kicked the water bottle in response.

“In this match against RCB in Chennai, we were chasing 110 odd. We lost wickets in a hurry, and we ended up losing the match. It was one of those matches where we couldn’t get 110 against RCB in Chepauk,” Badrinath said as quoted by India Today.

“I got out to a lap shot against Anil Kumble. I got myself LBW. He was coming inside the dressing room (MS Dhoni) and I was standing right there and there was a small water bottle in front of me and MS just kicked it out of the park, and I was oh my god! We were all trying to avoid eye contact with him in that dressing room,” he added.

Having led Team India for a decade and the Chennai Super Kings for 14 years straight, MS Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024. It is still uncertain if he will be available for the IPL 2025 season.
