FIRST TIME IN HISTORY! Netherlands Beat Nepal After 3 Super Overs in T20I Thriller

Netherlands beat Nepal in a T20I match that needed three Super Overs the first time in history thanks to Michael Levitt’s final-ball six.

In a match that will be remembered for years, the Netherlands edged past Nepal in an unbelievable finish involving three Super Overs during a T20 tri-series match in Glasgow on Monday (June 16, 2025). This was the first time in the history of T20 or List A cricket that a game was decided after three Super Overs.

The Netherlands batted first and scored 152/7 in their 20 overs. Nepal needed 16 off the final over in the chase, and despite losing wickets, tailender Nandan Yadav pulled off two boundaries, including one off the last ball, to tie the match at 152/8.

Super Over Madness in Glasgow

The first Super Over saw Nepal post 19 runs, thanks to Kushal Bhurtel’s fireworks. But Netherlands opener Max O’Dowd responded with a six and a four off the final two balls, tying the Super Over and extending the drama.

In the second Super Over, the Dutch scored 17 runs. Once again, Nepal fought back as Dipendra Singh Airee smashed a six off the last ball to force yet another Super Over.

The third Super Over was where it all ended. Dutch all-rounder Zach Lion-Cachet took two wickets in four balls without conceding a single run.

Netherlands needed just one run, but Michael Levitt did better smashing the first ball for six off Sandeep Lamichhane to seal a historic win. The thrilling match was part of a tri-nation T20I series also involving Scotland, the host nation.
