Fact Check: Rohit Sharma Scores 19.4 in Yo-Yo Test
Social media claims say Rohit Sharma scored 19.4 in Yo-Yo test, but BCCI has not confirmed any official fitness results
Rohit Sharma’s fitness became a trending topic after reports on social media claimed the Indian ODI skipper recorded a Yo-Yo test score of 19.4.
The opener recently appeared at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for routine pre-season checks alongside teammates preparing for the Asia Cup 2025.
However, there is no official confirmation of the score. The BCCI keeps player fitness data confidential, and any unauthorised disclosure can invite disciplinary action.
Which means any number being circulated online should be taken with caution unless verified by the board or its officials.
First Fitness Test Since Test retirement
This round of testing was more closely followed because it was Rohit’s first since he stepped away from Test cricket.
A BCCI insider clarified that all centrally contracted players are required to undergo pre-season fitness evaluations before any tournament.
“Every player is required to take a pre-season fitness test, which is mandatory as per the contract. These assessments allow the Centre of Excellence to identify areas where players need improvement,” the official told Hindustan Times.
India’s support staff, led by strength and conditioning coach Adrian le Roux, has also suggested introducing the Bronco Test, a rugby-style stamina check, to further assess endurance levels.
Full Squad Goes Through Checks
Apart from Rohit, several key names including Test captain Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya have already undergone their assessments in Bengaluru.
The results will help the team management prepare players for the Asia Cup starting September 9.
