England registered their biggest ever T20 international victory by crushing South Africa by 146 runs in the second T20I at Manchester. Phil Salt’s blistering 141 not out and Jos Buttler’s 83 powered England to a record 304 for 2.
Salt and Buttler dominated from the start, putting on a 126-run opening stand in just 8 overs. Jacob Bethell added 26, and captain Harry Brook finished with a quick 41 not out. England’s 304 is now the highest total by a Test-playing nation in T20Is.
Chasing a mountain, South Africa never recovered. Aiden Markram top-scored with 41 from 20 balls, while Ryan Rickelton made 20. Jofra Archer (3/25), Sam Curran (2/11), Liam Dawson (2/34), and Will Jacks (2/2) ran through the Proteas’ batting line-up, dismissing them for 158 in just 16.1 overs.
