ENG vs IRE: Joe Root completes 11,000 Test runs, becomes fastest to achieve this feat

Joe Root has accomplished the feat of scoring 11,000 Test runs in Test cricket, putting him among an elite group of 11 batters.

England batter Joe Root completed 11,000 Test runs during the one-off Test against Ireland at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Friday, June 2nd.

Root reached the milestone when he scored 52 runs before Tea on the second day of the ongoing four-day Test, joining the elite group of 11 batters who have achieved this milestone in Test cricket.

India’s legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar sits at the top of the all-time leaderboard with a total of 15,921 runs in 200 Tests.

With this, Root became the fastest batter to reach this milestone in terms of matches. He took 130 matches to score 11,000 Test runs, surpassing the legendary Brian Lara of the West Indies, who took 131 matches.

In addition, the former England captain also became the fastest Englishman to accomplish this feat, surpassing Alastair Cook, who crossed the mark in his 161st Test.
