“Dekh Lenge Final Me” – Shaheen Afridi Hits Back at Suryakumar Yadav’s ‘No Rivalry’ Remark

Shaheen Afridi responds to Suryakumar’s ‘no rivalry’ comment, hints at proving a point if India meet Pakistan in Asia Cup final.

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has fired back at India captain Suryakumar Yadav over his claim that India vs Pakistan is no longer a rivalry.

Afridi made the remark on Wednesday, just days after India beat Pakistan by six wickets in Dubai to register their seventh straight win against them in men’s internationals.

Suryakumar had said after the match that the rivalry tag no longer fits. “If two teams play 15–20 matches and it’s 7–7 or 8–7, then that is called a rivalry. But 13–0, 10–1…I don’t know the exact numbers. This is not a rivalry anymore. We played better cricket than them,” he said.

When asked to respond, Afridi chose his words carefully but made his intent clear. “That’s his view, let him say. When we meet in the Asia Cup final, we will see kya hai, kya nahi. Tab dekh lenge. We are here to win the Asia Cup and we will give our best effort,” the left-arm quick said.

The possibility of an India-Pakistan final has added spice to the tournament. India, who beat Pakistan in their first Super Four game, face Bangladesh next. A win would almost secure their spot in the final.

Pakistan, after defeating Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, will play Bangladesh on Thursday. A victory there would set up the much-anticipated third clash between the two rivals in this Asia Cup.

If it happens, it will be the first-ever India vs Pakistan final in Asia Cup history. Suryakumar’s men will aim to defend the crown, while Pakistan will eye their third title.
