A very thrilling and exciting match was played between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab on the second day of the Indian Premier League in UAE. Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals started the tournament with a win by defeating Kings XI Punjab in the Super Over.

Batting first, the Delhi team scored 157 for 8 wickets, where Marcus Stoinis played spectacular inning with his bat. He smashed 53 runs off just 20 balls.

It is worth noting that Marcus has become the second player to hit the fastest fifty in IPL. David Miller is still at number 1, whereas Glenn Maxwell is at number 3 now.

In response, Punjab team scored 157 for 8 wickets on the basis of Mayank Agarwal’s 89-run innings and the match was tied.

The winner was decided by Super over

After the score was equal, the winner was decided by a super over. For Delhi, Kagiso Rabada made Punjab an all-out for 2 runs (the team is considered all-out when two batsmen are dismissed in the Super Over). Captain KL Rahul, who came to bat for Punjab, was dismissed for two runs while Glenn Maxwell could not even open. Delhi scored the target on the third ball without losing a wicket.

Mayank’s innings brought Punjab back

Initially playing a slow inning, Mayank Agarwal made a comeback to the Punjab team by playing 89 runs off 60 balls. In this innings, he hit 7 fours and 4 sixes. The match was tied only after Mayank was dismissed and the team lost in the Super over.

Chris Gayle did not get a place in KXIP’s playing XI

The explosive Chris Gayle has not been included in the playing eleven in the Punjab team. Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who returned from England playing the series, has been named in the team. Whereas Delhi team gave Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis a place in the playing eleven.
